Doodle Cubes

A playful, doodle inspired temporary installation that was commissioned especially for Rotherham Show

With just over two months to the event, we were asked to create some artwork to circle the Main Stage for the Welcome Back area of the show ground.  We knew we wanted to make something that combined our usual playful and colourful approach and pair it with something that would echo the festival setting; the use of bright colours along with scaffolding to create a series of structures seemed like a perfect fit.

The installation comprises of six large cubes, each with spontaneous hand drawn  boards and flags attached to a scaffolding cube. The drawings are nature inspired, and are bold splashes of colour and lines.  Spaces were left on each side of the cubes to enable people to step inside or travel through them, encouraging exploration, interaction and fun.

It was lovely to see Doodle Cubes come to life as families interacted and explored them throughout the event, the cubes became play magnets for children; tots and tinies were lifted up to sit on them whilst older children climbed, tumbled and swung on them
